TURRET CLOCK WITH FRONT PENDULUM
Italy, 17th century. The dial signed Le Bon Padova.
Copper engraved and punched with arabesques and scrolls and gilt. Architectural case, the corners set with pilasters. Openwork, cylindrical belfry with balustrade, dome-shaped finial and mounted obelisk. On a profiled, square base and flattened feet. Front with silver-plated chapter ring for the Roman hours, below a smaller dial for the quarter hours. Gilt alarm disc. The back with a dial for setting the striking mechanism. Gilt movement with pilaster design, going train and striking train arranged one behind the other. Winding via fusee wheels and strings. Movement with verge escapement on short front pendulum, hour strike on bell. Alarm movement removed.
13 × 13 × 31.5 cm.
Gilding rubbed, one baluster replaced. Supplements and repairs. Movement currently working, requires revision.
