Régence style, after designs from a Parisian master workshop, 19th century.
Matte and polished gilt bronze.

As the model for the pair currently on offer, a fireplace chenet attributed to G. de Groff (Gullielmus de Groff, Antwerp ca. 1680-1742 Munich) deserves mention. It is nowadays part of the Collections of the Bavarian National Museum in Munich (Inventory No. R 5948) and depicted in: H. Ottomeyer / P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Die Bronzearbeiten des Spätbarock und Klassizismus, Munich 1986; I, pp. 70f. (Fig. 1.10.11).
