A SMALL RED LACQUERED ZUSHI (PORTABLE SHRINE).
Japan, first half of 19th c. Height 20 cm.
Wood, lacquered in red and gold, the inside of the double doors polychromly painted, metal fittings. The interior is bearing Amida Buddha, the doors decorated with the Four Heavenly Kings (Shitennô) and the two attendant Bodhisattva of Amida Nyorai Seishi and Kannon. Minor damages.
