Book of Hours for use in Langres. Latin script (in appendix also French) on vellum. With 4 large miniatures in gold and colour, each with gold frame, 3-line gold ground initials and four-sided border in black pen work, gold leaves, acanthus and flowers in colour, as well as 1 ornamental page with 3-line initial in colour on a ground of gold leaf, and 3-sided border in the style of the leaves with the miniatures. The text with 1 to 2-line initials in blue, mauve and gold with infill drawing. The appendix with initials and line endings in blue and red.
North East France (Langres?), 1st third of the 15th century. 15 × 11.5 cm. [120] (of 130?) ff. (f. 97 blank). Written area 9 × 6.5 cm. 12-13 line Textura, ruled (calendar 16 lines). Black-blue smoothed calf leather binding (mid 19th century) with gold embossed title on spine, double fillets, corner fleurons on the covers, edges and spine (corners and edges rubbed, hinges flaking, front hinge poorly restored).
Overall somewhat foxed, gold somewhat rubbed, occasional light wear (also in the borders) f. 16 tear with old backing. 5 leaves lacking in text, including miniatures and 5 leaves at the end.
