TEA POT WITH "HAUSMALER" CHINOISERIE DECORATION

Meissen, ca. 1723-24. *CONDITION: minor chip to tip of spout
After a "Böttger" stoneware model. Painted with a circumferential Chinese garden landscape featuring two tall Chinese figures. The edges with gold rims. The cover, likewise with a chinoiserie scene. Underglaze blue swords and K.P.M (Royal Porcelain Manufactory).
H 13 cm.

The question as to who was the painter of these specific chinoiserie decorations has been widely discussed, and the paintwork was subsequently attributed to the Bayreuth "Hausmaler" Christian Daniel Busch and Johann Philipp Dannhöfer (in Vienna until 1737) or alternatively to a Meissen or Viennese "Hausmaler", cf.
