IVORY AND TORTOISESHELL BOX WITH A DEPICTION OF A MONEY CHANGER
Probably German, 19th century, based on a Dutch model from the 17th century.
Round lidded box with a carved relief depicting a money changer and a lady weighing the money. The inside with a red tortoiseshell lining. Inscribed inside on a handwritten note “from Mary Duchess of Gloucester's writing table, March 1904”.
Ø 8.7 cm.
