IVORY MEDALLION OF OMPHALE
France, late 18th/early 19th century. After a design by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727-1785).
Oval ivory medallion carved in relief. Depiction of Omphale standing on a pedestal with the attributes of Hercules (club and lion skin). Mounted on a green velvet backing and in a black wooden frame.
H without frame 9 cm.
