PORTICO CLOCK WITH DATE
Directoire/Empire, Paris, ca. 1800, the dial signed Louis Berthoud Horloger de la Marine (probably Pierre Louis Berthoud, 1754-1813).
White marble and gilt bronze. Architectural portico. On a rectangular base and round feet. Opulent applied gilt decoration in the form of fleurons, baskets of flowers, putti, a satyr mask, pearl friezes and torches in the style of antiquity. The cylindrical clock case is suspended and decorated with a drapery on the lower edge. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic numerals for the date. Parisian movement with half-hour strike on bell. Sun pendulum. 1 key.
33.5 × 9.5 × 51.5 cm.
Dial with chips around the winding hole, minimal chips to the marble, gilding rubbed. Movement possibly requires revision.
