RELIQUARY BOX, a so-called "châsse"

Limoges, probably 19th century, in the style of the 13th century.

Wooden core with copper fittings, decorated with "enamel champelevé" in turquoise, blue, red, and white. Rectangular body with a gabled lid. In the pediment, the depiction of Annunciation angels, the longitudinal sides depicting the Annunciation scene, the narrow sides decorated with angels. Front and verso with a depiction of the Annunciation and the Visitation of Mary, respectively.
