MANTEL CLOCK "ALLEGORY OF WISDOM"
Louis XVI, Paris, end of the 18th century. The dial signed Le Roy à Paris.
Gilt bronze featuring a woman with a snake as an Allegory of Wisdom, and with a mirror as an Allegory of Self-Reflection, seated on a slightly curved base at the front. On a later wooden plinth with flat feet. White enamel dial. Later movement, striking the 1/2-hour on bell.
