‘Dune’ is a 2021 American science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth. This film, representing the first instalment of a two-part adaptation, is based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel.
The film achieved significant commercial success, grossing over $431 million against a budget of $165 million and ranked as the tenth highest-grossing film of 2021. It received critical acclaim, notably for Villeneuve’s direction, the screenplay, high production values, Hans Zimmer’s musical score, and the cinematography. The adaptation was also celebrated for its fidelity to Herbert’s original text. At the 94th Academy Awards, the film secured six accolades.
The item presented is an original crysknife, crafted for and used in the production of Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of ‘Dune’.
To the Fremen, the crysknife was more than a weapon; it was a sacred symbol imbued with deep cultural significance. Traditions dictated that once drawn, the blade must not be sheathed until it had tasted blood. Additionally, exposure of the blade to non-Fremen was forbidden under threat of death, unless resolved through a complex ritual purification.
The prop knife offered here is in excellent condition. Due to its use in production, it represents a unique opportunity to own a piece of this cinematic landmark.
