The lyre pendulum is a very specific form from the Louis XVI period and is dedicated to the theme of music. Technically, there are two basic types: Pendulums which have a fixed movement, with a ring-shaped pendulum bezel arranged around the housing, and pendulums in which the movement and dial are integrated into the swinging pendulum. The pendulum on offer, made by the Parisian clockmaker Furet, features this second, ingenious system of the free-swinging pendulum. The rods of the pendulum are displayed in a decorative manner and represent the strings of the lyre. A sun figure, usually with a Medusa head in a halo, completes the upper part of this decorative pendulum.
