The painting offered here was created in the context of a corpus of works traditionally grouped together under the name of the Master of the Vedute of the Langmatt Foundation. The foundation of the same name in Baden owns a total of 13 paintings by the Master (see exhibition-cat. Mythos Venedig, Baden, June-October 1994, pp. 62–117). Recent research assumes that the master of the Langmatt Foundation's vedute can be identified as Apollonio Domenichini, a painter active in Venice between about 1740 and 1770 who studied under Luca Carlevarijs (1663–1730).
