LIDDED GOBLET DESIGNED AS AN OSTRICH
Hanau, end of the 19th century. Probably Neresheimer Manufactury.
On an oval base made of sculpted acanthus leaves. The body functions as a lidded bowl, from which two lateral wings and the long neck extend.
H 41 cm; 1,590 g.

A goblet almost identical in shape, but gilt and decorated with an ostrich egg, was in the Collection of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, auctioned at Christie's Paris in February 2009.
