In an expertise from December 2012, Nicolas Turner confirmed the attribution of the work to Giulio Campi and pointed to stylistically related drawings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford ('Das Begräbnis der Hl. Agatha', KTP II, 140; I Campi, exhibition catalogue, Comune di Cremona, p. 282, No.2.6.3.) and in the Bibliotheka Riccardiana, Florence ('Dekoration für ein Fries mit Löwe und Putto zwischen Arkantusblättern' Inv. 210; M. Chiarini, a cura di, I disegni della Biblioteca Riccardiana di Firenze, exhibition catalogue, Gabinetto dei Disegni, Galleria degli Uffizi,1999 No.1).
