MANTEL CLOCK "AU LION RUGISSANT",

Louis XV, the dial and movement signed J. BAPTISTE BAILLON (Jean Baptiste Baillon, maître 1727) and numbered 3872, Paris ca. 1745.
Bronze, gilt and patinated. Roaring lion bearing the browned case on his back. On an opulently decorated cartouche base. Fine enamel dial with minutes in Arabic numerals and hours in Roman numerals. Movement with verge escapement, striking the 1/2-hour on bell. Gilding rubbed and patination missing in part. Requires revision.
