Bei dieser Ruhe auf der Flucht nach Ägypten handelt es sich um ein Bozzetto von Corrado Giaquinto, das als Vorstudie für das Altarbild im Art Institute in Detroit (ursprünglich in der Kirche von S. Luigi di Palazzo, Neapel, abgebildet in: Giancarlo Sestieri, Repertorio della pittura romana della fine del seicento e del settecento, Turin 1994, Vol. II, Abb. 489) entstand. Guiseppe Scavizzi bestätigt anhand einer Fotografie, dass es sich um ein eigenhändiges Werk Giaquintos handelt, das durch die feine und charakteristische Malweise des Künstlers ausgezeichnet wird.
