Walnut shell and metal chased with leaf tendrils and silver-plated. The travel set contains various sewing utensils, including a pair of scissors, a thimble, a flacon, a folding knife with mother-of-pearl fittings, an awl, a needle case, and a needle with an eye. The top of the inside is lined with later blue fabric.

LOT COMPRISING SEVEN SNUFF BOTTLES

1: Chased silver in the shape of an urn, with agate and jasper inlays and other stones. Suspended from a chain on the sides, the twist closure punched on the inside. The foot rim punched (probably Birmingham, 19th century), the underside incised with the numbers 5/5742 402. 2: Mother-of-pearl painted with birds, leaf motifs and scrolls in a silver mount. Peg closure. 3: Polychrome enamel cloisonné with motifs of flora and chimera and insects, and accentuated in gold in some areas. Tops in gilt metal. Hinged lid on the inside with S. Mordan & Co. 4: Polychrome enamel cloisonné with flora and fauna motifs. Suspended from a chain on both sides, the chain probably made of gold and enamel. Hinged lid. With old auction label, dated 14 May 1986 and Lot No. 472. 5: Burgundy, veined stone in an oval, flat shape. Silver hinged lid punched. 6: Round porcelain, painted with flowers and leaves. Punched silver twist closure (probably Birmingham, 19th century). 7: Round, in part polychrome painted glass, accentuated in gold. Chased hinged lid with brass flower- and star motifs. With old auction label, dated 4 June 1983 and Lot No. 69.

The neck with polychrome enamel cloissoné in floral motifs on a black ground, the stopper set with a garnet cabochon and old-cut brilliant-cut diamonds. Second hinged lid pierced and decorated with leaf motifs. Bottom with signature S. Mordan & Co. London. 2. Dark-brown stone in a silver mount and chased. Hinged lid with suspension ring. The front and back with heraldry, two lions under a crown and two crossed arms, each holding an arrow under a crown, respectively. With old auction label, dated 4 June 1983.

Metal with chased decoration in the form of scrolls, flower- and leaf motifs, and gilt. Heart-shaped, ending in a fine cylindrical neck at the top, with a glass stopper under a hinged lid. Suspension on the sides with a chain (to be repaired). Front with hinged lid and metal dial with painted numerals underneath. The fine verge escapement with balance.

Probably England, 2nd half of the 18th century. Unmarked.
Heliotrope with a gold mount (14 ct). The wall appliquéd with gallant scenes and motifs consisting of flowers, fruit, leaves, bacchanalian dances, and birds. The clasp decorated with silver diamond-set roses, rubies (?) and emeralds (?). The travel set contains various utensils for personal hygiene, including two red glass perfume bottles with gold closures in the shape of a mask, two iron knife blades with gold knife pommels with screw-on closures, a pencil, a matching curved hinged case with a heliotrope and probably missing mirror in a gold mount, a gold-mounted small comb, two bone note plates with illegible writing. One utensil missing. Underside with label.
