FIGURE OF VENUS STANDING

Roman, ca. 2nd century A.D.
Terracotta with remains of paintwork. Standing figure, probably of Venus, with raised arms. Her cloak is draped from the left shoulder and runs down her right side. Parts of the right half of her body are exposed. High-piled, fashionable hairstyle inspired by the Empress Julia Domna.
H 48.5 cm.
