RAPIER WITH HEMISPHERICAL HAND GUARD

Probably Spain, 17th century. With owner's signature at the base of the blade LUIS DE SAHAGUN and indistinct monogram OC.
Iron hilt with spherical pommel. Openwork basket and fine quillons merging into the knuckle guard. Etched foliage decoration. Grip with wire winding. Double-edged blade with a hollow cut at the base.
Blade length 89, L total 111 cm.
