The taxidermy business of James Gardner on 426 Oxford Street, London is thought to have been founded in the 1840s. He was known as one of the best British taxidermists and held Royal warrants for Queen Victoria, the royal families of England and France, as well as the Khedive of Egypt.
The object presented here is, considering its age, in very good condition and shows no significant damage.
