ENAMEL MUSIC BOX WITH SONGBIRD AND CLOCK
Geneva, early 20th century. The dial signed Golay Fils & Stahl Genève.
Engine-turned silver applied with translucent enamel, in part painted, on a light-blue ground. Oval box, the cover and the walls painted with Harlequin and Columbine in a landscape, and with flowers. The bottom is engine-turned. The top features an oval lid which opens by operating a slider on the front, revealing a small, moving and twittering songbird with a colorful plumage. The front features an oval clock with an amber-colored enamel dial and the hours in Arabic numerals. The bottom of the lid and the underside of the music box are marked 935 and DEPOT. 1 winding key.
10.5 × 6.5 × 4.5 cm.
Plumage of the bird incomplete and damaged. The openwork cover below the lid is bent, the movement requires repair.
