Jean-Louis Prat confirmed for the Comité Marc Chagall the authenticity of this work, Paris, 1 July 2014. We thank the Comité for its technical support. The work is dated to 1935-36, despite the unusually late dating of the dedication on the back (1968).

Provenance: Private collection, Switzerland (acquired directly from the artist).
