A GILT COPPER FIGURE OF AMITAYUS WITH AUREOLE.

Tibeto-chinese, dated Qianlong geng yin nian (1770), height 21.2 cm. Kalasha lost.
Feuervergoldete Kupferlegierung, der Kopf mit Resten von ritueller Bemalung. Die Gottheit sitzt in Meditationshaltung auf einem durchbrochenen rechteckigen Thronpodest, das in der Mitte von einem gerafften Tuch geschmückt wird. Eine fünfblättrige Krone und blütenförmige Ohrringe zieren das Haupt. Eine Flammenaureole umschliesst die ganze Gestalt. Am Sockelrand Inschrift: "Da Qing Qianlong geng yin nian jing zao". Kalasha verloren.


Old European private collection. By repute gift of the King of Siam Chulalongkorn (Rama V) between 1904 and 1910 to the grandparents of the present owner.
