Our thanks to Dr Fred G. Meijer for confirming the authenticity on the basis of a photograph. He describes the painting offered here as a characteristic work by Looten in terms of composition and motif and surmises that the figures may have been added later in the style of Johannes Lingelbach (1622–1674).
