HORAE B. M. V. -

Book of Hours. Latin script on vellum. With 2 full page miniatures in colour and gold and 5 initials of 4 to 5 lines each in gold, red and blue, each with scrolling borders.
France, ca. 1440–1450. 12 × 9 cm. [159] ff. Written area 6 × 4.5 cm. 14 lines in Textura. Restored leather binding over wooden boards using old, blind embossed covers. Two restored brass clasps (front cover with small worm holes.)


- Occasional old restorations and prayers inserted. Somewhat browned and with finger staining, the upper margin also with damp staining. First leaf with small worm hole (minimal loss to text). Light wear to text in parts. Minimal rubbing to miniatures. Overall in good condition and with clearly legible script. Numerous annotations on front endpapers by old hand.
