HORAE B. M. V. -

Book of Hours. Latin script on vellum. With 13 (originally probably 20) miniatures, 2 borders and numerous initials in gold and colour.
Eastern France [Besançon?], circa 1470. 10.5 × 8 cm. [217] (instead of 224?) ff. 6 x 4.5 cm. 14 lines littera bastarda. Leather binding circa 1550 with gilding on spine and cover, gilt edge on three sides (spine damaged, clasp removed, somewhat rubbed). In modern linen case.


Small format, in black littera bastarda with red headings, mostly 14 lines. The leaves are numbered throughout in pencil. Occasional minor staining, the upper outer corner of first leaf missing (no loss to text or image). - Old signature mark on back pastedown.
