BREVIARIUM -

Prayer book. German script on vellum. With illuminated title page and 7 large initials over several lines with floral ornament, as well as a pictorial miniature with the 'Last Judgement'.
Cologne, ca. 1420–1430. 13 × 9 cm. [154]ff. Written area 7 × 5 cm. 15 lines Rotunda. Velvet binding circa 1700 with 6 chased bossed iron mounts, and 1 clasp, endpapers with coloured paper (small losses due to rubbing and minimal stains).


Includes "Ghetiden van den Heiligen Geist, den Heiligen Drivoldichsit, die Seven Psalmen in duytschemetLitanien", the "Vigilien in duytsche". First page illuminated "Jhesus Maria".

Very well preserved and legible script. Numbered throughout by an old hand. Some areas of colour transfer from the painting. A few leaves with minimal rubbing. Only occasional traces of damp stain or barely visible brown staining. Overall the script is clean. Engraved Exlibris. Rear endpaper with notes in another hand.
