HEAD OF BACCHUS, so-called "Horti Lamiani" type

Roman, 2nd century A.D.
Marble carved full round, with sintering and remains of red paintwork. The youthful god looking to the left with open mouth, almond-shaped eyes and a smooth forehead merging with the bridge of the nose, his hair parted in the middle with two curls, one falling on his shoulders, wears a wide headband over his forehead and a heavy wreath of vine leaves, grapes, ivy and berries in his hair. On a later wooden plinth.
H without plinth 12 cm.


Various chips and losses. Nose and forehead with flaking.
