The present work is an excellent example of Loiseau’s ability to capture facets of nature and its changing moods through color, play of light and brushwork. Loiseau uses delicate shades of blue, gray and green to capture the mood of an early morning and create a misty ambience. The reflections in the water and the color tones created by the trees and sky contribute to the impressionistic atmosphere typical of his work. The river Eure plays an important role in Loiseau’s landscape painting, both as a motif and as a source of inspiration.
“Le bras du parc. Brouillard du Matin (Eure)” is a late work in Loiseau’s oeuvre, which is characterized by free and lively brushwork with a strong emphasis on light and shadow effects. The elongated brushstrokes called –“touche croisée” – are characteristic of Loiseau’s later paintings. Through this dynamic and free brushwork he manages to capture the movement and play of light and shadow on the surface in a remarkable way.
