The authenticity of the work has been confirmed by Marie-Anne Destrebecq-Martin, Neuilly-sur-Seine, 5 June 2018. It will be included in the catalogue raisonné currently in preparation.

Provenance:
- Kurt E. Schon Fine Art, New Orleans (label on the reverse).
- Private collection, Tennessee, acquired from the above gallery in 1988.
- German collection.

This work is a study for the left part of the large-format triptych "Les vendanges" from 1929, which is located in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux.
