This painting will be offered on the basis of an amicable agreement between the heirs of Carl Sachs and the consignor.
In his certificate, Jean-Jacques Fernier dates this work to circa 1846–47, the early period of the artist, when he traveled throughout Belgium and the Netherlands, gaining inspiration from the Old Masters of the golden age of 17th-century painting.
