COMMODE,

Transition, stamped J.L. COSSON (Jacques Laurent Cosson, maître 1765), guild stamp, Paris, ca. 1775.
Tulipwood, rosewood, and partly tinted exotic woods in veneer, finely inlaid "en papillon" with a clover-leaf pattern, fillets, reserves and decorative frieze. The front with 3 drawers, the lower drawers sans traverse and the top drawer smaller and divided into three. Gilt bronze mounts and sabots. Shaped "Rouge Royal" marble top.

J.L. Cosson fertigte neben von ihm signierten Möbeln auch unsignierte Möbel für seine "confrères", wie zum Beispiel P. Migeon oder L. Moreau. Er stellte vor allem Möbel im Stil Louis XVI in Mahagoni her, wobei - wie die hier angebotene Kommode schön aufzeigt, er auch mit Rosenholz arbeitete und das Kleeblattmotiv in seine Marketerie aufnahm.
