AN IMPRESSIVE BRONZE SCULPTURE OF A FIVE-HEADED SHIVAITE GODDESS.
India, Tamil Nadu, Nayak period, 18th c. Height 52 cm.
With dark patina. The three-legged and ten-armed goddess is seated on a lotus on a rectangular pedestal with an arched mandorla. Minor chips, cracks and restorations.
Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, 1983 acquired in Switzerland, together with lot 356 and lot 363, hence by descent. Receipt available.
