(who commissioned the painting)–Collection of the Duke of Hamilton.–Collection of John Slater.–Christie's, London, 22.4.1836.–Collection of Mr. King acquired at the above auction.–Christie's, London, 1.7.1899, Lot 72.–Bollag collection, Zurich, November 1930, No. 85 (label verso).–Swiss private collection. Exhibited: London 1824. British Institution, No. 170. Literature: Graves, Algernon: Catalogue of the Works of Sir Edwin Landseer, London 1876, Cat. No. 11, p. 4, probably erroneously listed as 1813 .
