TOSINI, MICHELE genannt MICHELE DI RIDOLFO DEL GHIRLANDAIO
1503 Florence 1577
Tosini studied under Lorenzo di Credi (1459–1537) and Antonio del Ceraiolo (active around 1520–1538) before joining Ridolfo Ghirlandaio's (1483–1561) workshop, which he would later take over. The artist carried out some of the most important commissions of his time for the city of Florence: In collaboration with Giorgio Vasari (1511–1574), he painted the ceiling decoration of the Salone dei Cinquecento in the Palazzo Vecchio. He also carried out the painting of three Florentine city gates and created a painting for the high altar of Santa Maria della Quercia in Viterbo.
