KNIVES WITH A LION HEAD HANDLE

French, 3rd quarter of the 16th century.
Round, segmented iron handle, decorated with engraved leaves. Riveted rectangular bone plates on the top and bottom. Sculpted, partially pierced handle end in the shape of a lion's head on an acanthus leaf-shaped capital. Blade with tip on the cutting edge.
L 15.7 cm.


Rubbed. Traces of oxidation. Cracks in the bone plates. Blade worn and with traces of corrosion.
