SERIES DEPICTING THE FOUR CONTINENTS

Meissen, ca. 1745-50. Models by J. J. Kändler.
The Genii of the Four Continents seated on a representative animal, with their corresponding insignia and symbols: America as an Indian on a crocodile, Asia in front of a palm tree on a camel, Europe on a rearing horse, Africa covered with an elephant head and sitting on a lion. On bases applied with flowers and leaves. Traces of a blue sword mark on the unglazed bases of Africa, America and Asia, incised mark 45 on the bottom of Europe.
H 14.5 cm, 18.5 cm, 19.5 cm, and 17.5 cm.
