A GOLD AND BLACK LACQUER BUTSUDAN (BUDDHIST ALTAR).
Japan, Meiji period, 47 × 41 x 120.5 cm, figure 21 cm.
Ancestral shrine with engraved metal fittings and makie decoration, the upper part is fitted with double hinged doors. The inside features a seated Buddha figure under a richly decorated canopy; lotus decoration adorns the sliding doors of the compartment below. The base with two drawers and an inner compartment behind painted sliding doors.
