The Ariel toucan, Ramphastos vitellinus ariel, is a near-passerine bird found on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and in tropical South America as far south as southern Brazil and central Bolivia. It lives in luscious forests and woodlands, feasting on the plentiful fruits and berries.
The toucan is one of the most iconic birds of the Amazon rainforest. Due to its impressively formed large beak and colourful plumage, it is depicted in countless pieces of art and historical renderings.
The taxidermy ariel toucan presented here is a vintage piece, which was carefully restored.
