Lacquered in gold and coloured takamakie with a sparrow on a blooming plum, the illustration of the spring poem from 1693 by the poet Matsuo Bashô at the reverse. Signed Gyokushunsai and kakihan.
Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, thence by descent.
