A LACQUERED FIGURE OF THE SEATED ENMEI JIZO.
Japan, 17/18th c. Height 50 cm
Wood with gold over black lacquer and red lacquer, the eyes are inlaid. Fine depiction of the life-prolonging bodhisattva (Enmei Jizô bosatsu) on a double lotus pedestal above a stepped base with wish-fulfilling pearl (nyoi no tama) and pilgrim's staff. Three parts. Minor restorations.
