ENAMEL TABATIÈRE WITH A GOLD MOUNT

Probably England (South Staffordshire), mid-18th century. Unmarked.
Rectangular shape with two compartments. Metal mount. Enamel in vibrant turquoise, the lids, the sides and the base with cartouches depicting golden flowers and insects on a white ground against a golden diamond pattern. The front wall is decorated with white stripes. The inside is made of white enamel, with floral motifs on the lids.
L: 7.2 cm, D: 4.6 cm, H: 3.6 cm. 115 g. 375 ct gold.
