PENDULUM CLOCK ON PLINTH WITH CONTRE-BOULLE MARQUETRY
Régence, Paris ca. 1740. The movement signed 'DeLorme à Paris' (probably Jean Philippe De Lorme, maître in Paris 1736).
Rectangular case, the top decorated with a putto. Later marquetry in the contre-boulle manner in brass, tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl designed as trailing flowers. Relief-decorated, gilt brass dial with white enamel cartouches. Later blued hands. Movement with verge escapement, 1/2-hour strike on bell. Winding key is missing.
