Tortoise shell, inlaid with gilt metal designed as small blossoms. Gilt mounts with leaf-shaped friezes and blossoms. The cover, with a half-height portrait of a young woman wearing a pink ribbon in her tresses, and with a dog. The inside, with a label: Christie's 53.
