George II, London, 1742. Maker's mark Paul de Lamerie.
Each with a very finely shaped foot and baluster-shaped shaft. All of them bear a coat-of-arms engraving.
H 21.2 cm. Total weight 1,915 g. Silver 925.
The series of candlesticks described here bears the maker's mark of Paul de Lamerie (1688-1751), the most important goldsmith in England in the 18th century. Lamerie was considered one of the leading pioneers of the English Rococo style, a style he introduced from the 1730s onwards.
