Etching, 18.1 x 21.7 cm. On laid paper with watermark: Fool's Cap, seven-pointed collar.
Signed and dated at the lower margin: Rembrandt f. 1659.
Bartsch 94; Hinterding/Rutgers (New Hollstein 312 II (of IV); Nowell-Usticke 94 I (of VI, before the extension of the curved lines in the archway to the capital and before filling in the gaps in the upper left). - A splendid, concice early impression with rich contrast. Three sides with fine margin around the plate mark, the lower margin approx. 0.9 cm. The upper and lower left corners and the lower right corner with restorations of small tears. The centre of the left margin with additional small tear. Minor areas of rubbing in lower left, the upper right corner with small black spot. Verso with old mounting band at the left edge. Overall attractive condition.
