ANTIPHONARIUM -
Anonymous Italian illuminator, 15/ 16th century.
The Presentation in the Temple and initial S. Extract from an Antiphonary. With floral cornerpieces. Gouache, pen and gold on vellum.
Northern Italy, circa 1500. 30 x 23.5 cm. Mounted on backing board, gold frame under glass. (48 × 41 cm).
Somewhat buckled, slightly rubbed in parts, some light staining. Minimal loss to vellum lower left (tear of leaf due to buckling). Slightly cut into margins, with old areas of backing.
