FRAGMENT OF AN EROTES SARCOPHAGUS WITH A CIRCUS RACE

Roman, 2nd quarter of the 2nd century A.D.
Marble, carved in bas-relief with remains of paintwork. Putto driving a chariot with a two-horse team, a cut-off horse coming from the right (fragmentary).
L 28.5 cm.


Small fillings along the edges. Losses.

Provenance:
- French collection.
- Triple Gallery, Bremgarten bei Bern, January 11, 2006.

With a French export certificate (June 17, 2005).
