With an expert opinion by Dr. Prof. Dietrich Willers (9 August 2010) and a French export permit (1 February 2010).

The "Aphrodite Euploia" was one of the most popular representations of the bath of Aphrodite. M. Bieber concludes that this type of statuette was the preferred votive offering of many seafarers at sanctuaries of Aphrodite throughout the Mediterranean (Cf. M. Bieber, The Sculpture of the Hellenistic Age, New York, 1955, p. 144). A similar figure of Aphrodite, accompanied by Priapus and standing on an altar, is in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli. Because of her gilded costume, she is referred to as "Venus in a Bikini" (Inv. No. 152798).
